I have windows 10 install took more than 24 hours and after a slow period using Outlook and fixing a few setting then a restart went to the black screen, system is useable, tray icons and the task bar refresh occasionally but I never get to where any icon, app or function works.

Everything freezes or seems dead. I can get to task manager but the big apps that may be a large part the problem will NOT ‘end task’. No access, need Admin login. Cannot login except the usual user an administrator. After that login in I cannot do anything, as described.

An anti malware and my anti virus software appear to be running, hogging cPU and memory. They will not end. I do not know what to do. Did see program terminations or failures for my Intel Connection ‘net Detect’ and my Logitech Set Point before the restart – failure to perform. I’m having the exact same problem only today. I thought it was a driver problem bc I installed a new NVIDIA driver yesterday, but uninstalled and reinstalled in safe mode didn’t do anything. It appears that this kind of thing has been happening to Win 10 since The user who posted the picture of the exact thing that is happening should have had this engineer knocking on their door, no matter where in the world they are, in less than 24 hrs, and personally taking charge of getting it fixed and publishing all that had to be done etc.

I just read an interesting article to me at least on how browser extensions can lead to fingerprinting. I feel it is relevant to many of the question on extensions that have been asked recently. For me, until recently, I was adding every nearly but not really Mozilla recommended privacy extension; Than I took a minimalist approach and cut back to UBlock Origin and another tool not a privacy one Two extensions only.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago… all gone except for uBlock! Have added Privacy Badger and Privacy Possum since.

I consider myself at a low threat level. Neither PB nor PP slow down anything and do their respective thing automatically including automated updates. I believe they compliment each other and do not duplicate functions of uBlock. I also have one browser I have hardened just for accounts with passwords. An other browser just for news….

A RAM disk is the perfect way to speed up this tedious task and it would be nice to know which products can do the job. For sure it depends on the system. According fiehnlab. Just out of curiosity , I did concurrently benchmark the QSoft and the Dataram ramdisks. The benchmarks were started at quasi the same time within the time to move and click the two start buttons. By this , the benchmarks run concurrently on the disks with the same size and the same filesystem. I presume this the most accurate test one can perform. Me too. I installed that one shortly after I read that it was updated and is freeware.
